Allied Weed Control, Inc. is a family owned business operated by Russell Spence, and his two sons, Alex, and Perrin. The family has been involved in the pest control industry since 1961 when Herb Spence, Russell’s father, began his career as an agricultural applicator. He later acquired his Pest Control Advisors License, serving the farm community for nearly forty years before his retirement in 2001.

In 1984 Russell began a business named Spence Spraying Service applying pesticides and herbicides in almond orchards. This morphed into the business also providing almond stockpile fumigation, tree pre-plant fumigation, and rodent control. In 2002, Russell bought into the Weed Man franchise providing lawn fertilization and weed control. At this time his oldest son, Alex, joined the family business.

In 2009 Spence Spraying Service was awarded a 180 acre, 5 year contract with the City of Turlock, CA to provide them with weed management at their waste water facility. It continued to acquire more accounts in this market, including the Cities of Bakersfield and Sacramento as well as other clients. In December of 2012, Russell’s  youngest son, Perrin, joined the family business as together we purchased “Allied Weed Control” from a man who was very prominent in the weed control industry. This acquisition has enabled us to combine our commercial and industrial customers into one company.
